The Can Says: "Strong and
Pure Lager"
Rortise says: The can may say
that this lager is both strong and pure, but will
the evidence back this up? First appearances were
very good with the cans coming in under the
crucial £1 barrier which many find
psychologically hard to break. However it is
obvious where the savings have been made over
Special Brew - 60ml and 0.5% dropped. This may not
seem like a lot but over a period of time this
really does add up. The design of the can is nice,
though.

The can opened with a satisfying
and sturdy clunk that you wouldn't have expected
from the Spar brand name. The taste was one which
you would - not the best but certainly palatable
after one or two "warm up beers." There
is a distinctive after taste which is most like
that of the mighty Super T. Perhaps they are
brewed in the same factory? It is also good to see
Spar follow Tesco's lead and put nutrition
information on their cans.

In Conclusion: Coming in to
the review I didn't know what to expect from the
contender from Spar. It is certainly strong
compared to the average lager but not when held up
to scrutiny amongst the Trampjuice opposition.
Spar Strong and Pure unfortunately cannot play
with the big boys and as such is awarded an
adequate 4/10
