The Can Says: "Lynx
Super, Brewed In Holland" Rortise
Says: 8.5% seems to be the current average
super level behind the "Big boys" of
Spesh, Super T, Skol and Kestrel. A 500ml can is a
pleasent surprise as Lynx Altra's main contenders
would surely be the supermarket own brand lagers
that are favoured by those who want something
different from the 4 established super lagers. The
silver can looks classy, if a tad dated but it
ensures that the red screams out "half a
litre" at you. You'd have to be blind to miss
that! Being brewed in Holland could be considered
a good thing as the continent has a reputation for
good super lagers. Amsterdam Maximator hails from
Holland so the country has a good pedigree for
super's but will Lynx match up?
The
can opened without a problem, as is the want of
cans nowadays. The smell had a hint of chemicals
but was not over harsh as some supers are. The
first taste was quite amicable on the palette and
further sips went down just as well. The fizz in
the lager was just right and added, rather than
detracted, from the overall experience. The
strength is not noticeable until after the 4th can
which you'll find yourself drinking very quickly
indeed. A good tasting super, with a good smell
and a good price.

Conclusion: At the start of the review the
pedigree of the Dutch superlager community was at
stake. It has now been elevated even further in
the trampjuice reckoning. Lynx Altra is a super
with quality written all over it. A quality can, a
quality smell and a quality taste. Unfortunately
the only downside is the 8.5% strength. All in all
well done Lynx Altra your up there with the big
boys. 9/10 |
