Best Cider

Trampjuice Awards 2004

Introduction: The best cider award will go, strangely enough, to the best cider. Our experienced review team will taste all ciders nominated. It is vastly expected that a white cider will win, but a surprise may be in the pipeline.

Predictions:

Favourite: Frosty Jacks
Front Runners: Ice Dragon, White Lightning, 'K' Cider
Outside Chance: Farmhouse Cider
No Chance: Strongbow Super

Nominations: Two Nominations for Frosty Jacks, White Lightning, Zeppelin, Farmhouse Cider

Winner: Frosty Jacks
Runner Up:
White Lightning

As we sat down with the nominated ciders in front of us we knew from the start that there was only going to be one winner and that was to be Frosty Jacks. The taste, price and street cred all added up to be more than the sum of parts and a unanimous decision was reached.

However, second place was all to play for. Farmhouse Cider was quickly eliminated due to its lack of quality control and availability. There's no point in having something cheap if there are no stockists around who stock the product!

It was then down to White Lightning and Zep to fight it out for second place. The blows traded were quickfire - Zep was cheaper but White Lightning was stocked in greater places. White Lightning tasted better but Zep had that special something about it that we could not put our hands on, a certain "X Factor" if you will. However, White Lightning has the street cred, the park bench crew will be your friends if you drink this. Hence we felt it necessary to elevate it to second place and consider the opposition that ended up in first then this was no mean feat.
