The Can Says: "Super
Strength Dutch Lager" Rortise
says: The words super
strength and Dutch are not normally seen together
in the same sentence however, in this case, they
are and they go together very well indeed. Bavaria
have a known pedigree in producing
"premium" lagers and their
implementation of a screw top on all of their
bottles is a wonder to behold. Bavaria super, on
the other hand, comes in a can like all good
supers. The can is a tad drab and uninspiring but
you would be a fool to miss the giant 8.6 on the
front. The ring pull opened with little resistance
which is always a bonus and the smell was not off
putting.

On first taste
this could pass for any premium strength lager -
it tasted just that good! For a super it is very
light and doesn't have that chemical taste that
many of its rivals do, although Marakon disputed
this heatedly. Four cans for a fiver is another
bonus but, alas, they are only 440ml cans. The
most surprising thing about Bavaria 8.6 is just
how palatable it really is - you could drink this
at any time and anywhere. A true top super.

In Conclusion: Bavaria
8.6 tasted fantastic chilled or warm, very much
like its 8.6% brother, Tesco Super. It really has
now become the Trampjuice reviewers choice and
would gain a full 10 and dethrone Tennents as the
tramps favourite if it wasn't for two things. The
first being is that it is simply too upper class
for tramps to drink and the second being the 440ml
cans. When will super brewers learn that we are
willing to pay an extra few pence for that all
important 60ml? These two problems are really
picking holes in what is otherwise a fantastic
brew and as such Bavaria 8.6 is rewarded with a 9/10 |
